A cozy fire can make the whole evening. These quick tips keep it simple, safe, and easy to enjoy.

Quick use

  • Open the draft control first: pull it outward and slide it to the left.
  • Use real, seasoned firewood only. Please do not use fake or artificial logs.
  • Start with fire starter, kindling, and a few small pieces of wood.
  • Once the fire is going well, close and latch the door.
  • Turn the fan on only after the fireplace has had time to heat up.
  • When you're done, let the fire burn out completely, then push the control inward and to the right to close it.
Starting a fire
  • Before lighting, pull the draft control outward and all the way left so the fire gets plenty of air.
  • Use a little fire starter or plain paper, then add kindling and two or three small logs.
  • Light the kindling and let the fire establish before closing and latching the door.
Adjusting the heat
  • More open means a hotter, faster fire. More closed means a slower, gentler burn.
  • Once the fire is established, adjust the draft control gradually rather than all at once.
  • The fan should stay off at first, then can be turned on after the fireplace is nicely warmed up.
What to burn
  • Burn real, seasoned firewood only.
  • Please do not burn artificial fireplace logs, driftwood, treated lumber, cardboard, trash, or anything other than natural firewood.
  • If you're ever unsure, it is safest not to burn it.
When you're done
  • Let the fire and embers burn down naturally.
  • When there are no active flames and the fire is finished, push the draft control inward and to the right to close it.
  • Please do not leave the fireplace unattended while the door is open.
Good to know
  • The handle, door, and surrounding surfaces can become very hot, so use care around children and pets.
  • If smoke comes into the room or something does not seem right, please stop using the fireplace and reach out.
